You should not add additional seed pods after others start growing. One of the advantages you buy with an Aerogarden is the lighting set up properly. If the light is high for the older plants the new plants will not just grow slower but in general suck more. That is not even counting being blocked by bigger plants. A mixed herb box can suffer from 'bully' plants as it is, mixing growth starts will make it worse. You may be able to get away with a few days but I wouldn't go past 3-4.

However, I do use "plant spacers" to break up kits. I have a little 6 pod that I use for just basil. I buy big packs but only plant 2 seed pods ago. That way they have plenty of space since basil grows big. So don't be shy about not maxing a machine spaces, it is not always the best choice for your needs.

As for just pulling the pods and waiting, I have never tried it. You risk them trying to grow anyway badly or just molding.

Just a additional warning, never leave a hole empty. You should use either a seed pod or a "spacer". This is important because with any hydroponics you must keep the reservoir light proof. Nutrients + water at idea grow temperature will turn swampy and gross fast.

Hope that helps, good luck!
