Yo tengo uno genérico de 10000 mAh que compré a 10 dólares en Amazon y la verdad se la re banca, me da para unas 3 o 4 cargas del celu.

This one is super cheap and has been very reliable through two power outages and daily 6-10 mile walks (in which I drain my phone battery once or sometimes even twice). I have had a couple other brands that just stopped working for seemingly no reason.

ETA: The ones they sell in the impulse sections of stores are trash.

If it's 10,000 mAh you'd massively overpay either way. I have a 10k I bought from amazon for $12. Has lasted me two full 6 hour days out playing pokemon without needing a recharge.

Edit: clicked link after posting - if you're wanting to overpay for a round pokeball external then that's prolly what you'd be paying, but if you don't want to spend / have the money just get a normal one.

Also one of those battery packs like this so that you can keep your cell phone going for updates if you lose power for an extended period of time

I'm positive they just made these. That could just be a simple cell backup power with usb. Then you plug the USB of the LED setup into the charger. They have kits but you will have issues bending to make the letters. I suggest finding led strips that just connect to each other.. [or possibly use connectors like this.]

You will likely have to put a resistor of some sort to prevent the LED from taking too much power from the USB power bank. (unless the leds come with their own power / controller etc)

Looking for a quick and dirty (i.e. cheap) battery backup for my Pi that runs a networked media file server 24/7 during infrequent, short power outages. I was thinking about maybe using a cell phone power bank like this one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VWV8LD4 ... Anyone try this and can recommend or condemn this application?

Honestly, you'd be better off finding a place to charge your devices (generator or an outlet that still has power) and then being very conservative with usage.

It is obviously too late now, but a $60 external battery would have powered that 5c for quite some time. A 5c has a battery that is just under 1600mAh.

For $11, shipped, you could get this battery that charges it more than 5 times.
