May wanna look at something like an antronix mra1-15 amplifier. Basically a powered splitter. Takes an incoming cable signal feed and a 12 volt power supply coming in and sends out signal from there.

From googling it appears to be an amplifier used to boost cable/internet signals. His version there appears to be jerry rigged, appears maybe he lost the original plug for it and made this work?
