That is because those antlers sell for $$$ as dog chews. 8 inch long costs $21.http://www.amazon.com/Antler-Pet-Expertise-X-Large-Piece/dp/B004JB7GC6

At 6 months she is too young, but I would suggest looking into /r/runningwithdogs in about a year. UNTIL THEN:

Fetch. Around the house, at the park, all the time.

And I can vouch for the antler advice. I have a mega jawer Border Collie, nothing lasts like a good deer or elk antler. (like this) The open cut ones are tastier, but don't last as well.

Training should be fun! Watch some of the ideos on the sidebar and just have a good time.

Relax, puppies are like kids, they want to have fun and will drive you nuts.

Rawhides give my dog diarrhea, while bones don't, so those might be easier on their stomachs. But even better are antlers! (That's just an example, there are tons of places to order them and we buy ours from a local store.) My dog loves hers, and they take a long time to go through. They don't upset her stomach in the least and they don't get that weird smell like bones do sometimes. They're a little pricey, but for how long they last, they are totally worth it.

I'm not sure where you love but I've bought some at Petco and assorted pet stores. Also if you live in a place people hunt you can sometimes get the ones they don't want. Is a link to a decent place to order some. I also really like the black extreme kong toy. I melt peanut butter and pour it in the kong then freeze it so it becomes hard and give it to my dog. We've also had good luck with Nyla bones, the have regular and extreme chewing versions. Any other questions let me know:)
