So there a pile of other options besides vest/cape. Bandana, leash cover, simple rope harness, working him naked (the naked one is tough to work with if you don't like alot of questions)

if you really want a vest for him. I would go with something that minimal. leaves his chest open to the floor. most dogs love a cold floor on their chest/tummy in the summer. possible made from material similar to the baseball shorts.
