Reddit reviews Barron's FE: Fundamentals of Engineering Exam

Mine had both in roughly equal measure.

NOTE: I did not select this book independently, it was selected for my mechanical design class by my professor who wrote the chapter about mechanical engineering so it is what I have. But it's a pretty good book, and cheap too.

A fair share of us around the office used this for the mechanical FE exam.

Everyone who took it passed on the first try, and these are all guys 3-4 years out of college. It really was far easier than I expected. The study guides have harder questions than what you'll find on the test. I finished the first section in about 2 hours, the second in about 3.5.

I see no reason to sign up for a course. Just do the practice problems, know EXACTLY where the formulas are in the formula book, and don't worry about it. If you passed college, you CAN pass the EIT. It's all college material, not real-world scenarios you encounter during your career.
