My laptop is hooked up to one of these at the moment, works great. The only con to it is that when it collects dust, it's a bitch to clean.

I've had this one for about 5 years. It's finally starting to die on me since I use it all the time, but I would highly recommend it!

Again depending on how high your graphics settings are and how well your on board cooling system works, you'd probably be good with just something cheap and simple from Walmart!

So I don't know much about heat throttling so I can't say much there.

Played a few hours of PayDay 2 and Left for Dead last night with mostly maxed settings (except for Anti-Aliasing-- turned that off as it made both games freak and crash). Both games ran pretty smoothly nor did I notice my laptop running warm. I do have it on top of one of this thingy here but wasn't plugged in. At one point, one of our PayDay games was pretty laggy but I was playing online, in a house, with 4 people playing LoL and 2 people playing Starcraft so I'm assuming it was just the interwebs and not the laptop itself as my PayDay buddy was lagging as well.

I just ran a Benchmark test using Unigen Valley with these settings and got these results:

When laptop was running on battery

When laptop was plugged in

Both instances, the GPU was running around 54-62c (at least, from what I remember)

On the Battery

I decided to go on battery power around 3:00 PM. It's now 4:30 and my battery is at 17%.

Round two on Battery
Okay, I'm gonna try changing Sager's settings to battery saving and we'll see how it goes.
