I got those exact same gems for Dread Pirate Buccaneer's Revenge. It's amazing how cheap they are on Amazon and they add a lot to games.
If you want more variety in colors, Rit dye from and craft/department store works great. We darkened our light blues and greens to try to give them more of a Sapphire and Emerald color.

I use these. They are expensive but they have good weight to them and look like fake gold pretty well. I don't regret already having purchased them but they are a little bit expensive...
