Definitely get the velours for the DT770 (they come in both black and silver).

I own COPs and love them.

(yes, this is a copy/paste... because "get the velours" should be my flair.)

Now, I expect PriceZombie to come along; he usually does.

I wear my Beyerdynamic DT 770s 32Ohms at work for hours on end and I absolutely love them. No neck kinks, none too weighty, don't clamp down hard. I listen to similar music, and they go over your ear, so they seem to fit your qualifications nicely.

Edit: I also opted to get the velour replacement pads.

Well, the m50x has a low impedance (38 ohms) so you don't really need an Amp unless for some reason your source has a really low volume. Just take good care of them and use them to get the best performance out of them.

Edit: If you want more comfort, get these earbuds for the M50x:

Looks like it might actually be DT 770 pads stretched out to fit on the M50x

Np. Glad I could help. And since you are getting the COPs, here is, what I feel, a must for comfort:
Silver: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0016MMYKA
Black: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007VCKA64/ref=pd_aw_sims_8?pi=SL500_SS115

They breath better, absorb any sweat, and just all around feel nice.

He's from the US, so that could be a problem.

You mean these, right? Yeah, changing the material and/or the dimension changes the sound. If you stay with velour and get similar ones you might not notice much but if you get leather or particularly shaped ones you will hear the difference.

They are these pads. I would have gotten the black ones if I had not ordered them first to replace them on my DT770.

Don't know if this counts as tech support but I got a pretty noobish question about changing the earpads on my soundmagic hp100. I ordered the beyer edt770v and they come with these so i'm guessing i first have to remove these right?

beyer custom one is better, but you need to the velor pads one,the leather are overly bassy, since you want the white version it only comes with leather pads.these amazon.com/beyerdynamic-velour-Custom-Studio-models/dp/B007VCKA64?keywords=Beyerdynamic+Custom+One&qid=1537638330&s=Electronics&sr=1-17&ref=sr_1_17 or the grey ones to go with white amazon.com/beyerdynamic-velour-silver-grey-other-models/dp/B0016MMYKA?keywords=Beyerdynamic+dt770+pads+white&qid=1537638535&s=Electronics&sr=1-2-fkmr2&ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2 a bit more expensive than black idk if worth it then they are super comfortable and sound better than m50x an totally worth the extra cost for pads.

There are many reviews of both, but the main issue with both are the pads. People feel too much clamping force from the M50X and too much warmth from the COP, as it doesn't let your ears breath very well. This is a nice fix for the COP, making it as comfortable as the other Beyerdynamic headphones, as these are some of the most comfortable pads around. For the M50X you can stretch the headband, fix the pads by buying a compatible pair, there are many guides out there. They're both great headphones anyway, you really can't go much wrong here.

Ignore everyone who's being a dick. If you like them and think they sound good then that's all that matters.

As for comfort : No, you're not wearing them wrong or anything like that. It's just what happens when you put something on your head for many hours. Watch this video, it shows you how to take the pads off the headphone. Buy this pad and put it on instead of the stock one, this will make it a bit more comfortable. Realistically though, the headphone will never be comfortable after ~2 hours, that's just because of how it's designed.

Hope I helped, sorry about some of the people on here.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro-80. DOO IT.

Really, these isolate probably 60-70%. I have mine adjusted looser, though, for comfort (I wear them 7 hours/day). I've seen people install "gel" pads on these (literally, these squared-off silicone donuts) that are supposed to seal up REALLY well, although with the tradeoff of getting a bit sweaty inside.

This is the best solution I can think of without going for excessive clamping force (Sennheiser) or ear-canal discomfort (IEMs).
