Black n' Red
I buoght one a few weeks ago and I've found it to be perfect. There's really nothing special about them, but they're just well made notebooks. I've noticed them everywhere since switching as well.
What about the Black n' Red notebooks? They are pretty sturdy and have great paper quality.

If I can't find anything similar I am thinking of getting a leather cover for a moleskine.
They are expensive enough that I hesitate to buy it if I will be disappointed.
The closest I have ever found to the book I have is a Black n' Red model on amazon but the missing elastic strap is a deal breaker for me.
