I have had my HE-400i for over a year with around 2000 listening hours and HE-400 with Focus pads for about 1.5 years with a couple hundred listening hours on them and have not seen this myself.

How do you store your headphones because this is strange.

These should be a comparable pad that should work and are well regarded as quite comfortable.

Not quite a 400i, but I put the Brainwavz Angled Hybrid pads on my Sundara. Man they are so comfortable, and gave the same improvements you mentioned.

Perhaps the Brainwavz pads that are hybrid velour and leather? These are the ones I got for my T40RP and the bass is fine.

I'm guessing you got velour pads because comfy fabric rather than face sweating leather?

I specifically ordered these from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J54NLOI/

which I believe are these.

There are more colors on the Brainwavz website and they are also on sale. The velour angled hybrids look like they only come in black. I'm not sure I really like the angled versions yet.

The Wicked-Cushions on the ATH-M40fs were

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CYRHZNR/

which I think are these.

I didn't like these on the M40x as much but they are great on the M40fs. Not sure why.

That's for the non-angled hybrid pads. Hybrid angled pads go for $40 on Amazon.

The ones I'm selling are the angled pads.

velour or hybrid replacement pads are not available in brown.

you'll have to go with black

thanks for the advice!

afaik, only elear pads are strictly 'compatible'. Mine are held on by double-sided tape.
