Yep, Thunderbolt/USB-C also offers video output. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compatible/dp/B00X4S58LQ/

The Intel chipsets Haswell (4xxx) and up support 3 monitors simultaneously.

Unless you really want the extra USB ports, might as well just get this which works perfectly:

I have just bought an XPS13 9360 lap top from Dell. My son "checked" before I purchased and thought it had a VGA slot (one of my requirements - I ought to have double checked) but it does not (and I bought it to show slides at client offices and hotels which often have very old projector machines and to use on holiday)....

Thankfully despite reading worrying posts on various plcaes I bought a fairly cheap USB Type C to VGA adapter on Amazon which says "thunderbold 3 port compatible" and that DOES work on a first try at home on a projector ( a "screeneo" device, with VGA slot). I will need to try it with older projectors but am hopeful.
I bought:-
Cable Matters USB 3.1 Type C (USB-C & Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible) to VGA Adapter in Black (up to 720p on Lumia 950/950XL) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00X4S58LQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(UK pounds 19.99)

I bought a second different brand of VGA adapter too which I will take to the next talk just in case as a back up (but have not bothered to try as the one above works so far
My back up is https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01CY6K81S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 UK £12.99.

I deliberately did not buy a combined one with HDMI to keep things simple and after researching this on line.
I also bought an ethernet adapter originally too when I bought the lap top as I am often in hotels which don't have wifi. I wish manufacturers would remember most of us in the real world are not always in places where hotels, conference centres, clients have the latest tech and we need lots of the old fashioned stuff too. The ethernet adapter works really well and fast from my home connection.

So that leaves HDMI which I don't often use but can sort out in due course but will be an important issue for those who use their lap top to watch on the TV which is very common these days.

I did not buy any Dell adapter (100 or 200) not because of cost but because on the Dell website it does not actually give a compatible adapter for the 9360. I think that is bad practice. To sell a machine saying it is VGA compatible but not to recommend which adapter to buy suggests Dell is not sure that there is one compatible with it. In fact it would be better if their webpage advertising the lap top said it does not have the following slots...... as many of us replacing lap tops are looking for the HDMI slot, VGA slot, ethernet slot - none of which come with it. It also does not have a CD Rom drive. It just seems to me lap tops have fewer and fewer of the features we need and it has nothing like enough slots for me to plug all this stuff in including the mouse I always use, the memory stick the slides are on etc etc. I expect I will get used to it and we can always keep buying adapters and extenders.

Anyway apart from that it is really good and the £19.99 VGA adapter which so far seems to work sounds like the right solution.

My moment of truth will be when I go to the next conference as speaker and am trying to link it to some 15 year old hotel projector and hopefully the adapter will still work.....

Probably cheaper/easier to buy 2 cables.

There are cheaper adapters than these 2, but these seem good quality.
