I've had some spectacular results from renting from a local place. $30 to rent a $2,000 lens for a weekend and really get my photo nerd on? Hell yes!

The Canon 85mm f1.2 aka. "Size-of-a-fucking-Grapefruit-lens" costs $1999 on Amazon....

I wouldn't be surprised if the Leica m43 one was around $1500.

I'm not sure how I feel about f1.2... if you super thin focus and tons of bokeh, you probably wouldn't be shooting Micro Four Thirds. But hey, it is actually a good thing to have a thicker DoF. See this Canon 85mm f1.2 photo, where the nose is in focus but the eyes are out of focus!

What's the next lens going to be? That 85mm f/1.2 looks pretty sweet.

> Every single one of my prices is correct, 50 dollars difference is nothing when you're buying thousands of dollars worth of equpment, thanks for posting!

The fuji 35 is $600, the 35/2 equiv is $850.

The X-E2 price is actually correct, I assumed it was launching for the same $1200 as the X-E1, sorry.

The 5DII is discontinued, the 5DIII is $3000. The 5DII if you can find it is ~$1500 or less.

The 35/1.4 has a rebate, it's $1300, or less refurb.

The 85 is also $2000, or less refurb.

Typically, you aim for 85mm or 135mm (in 35mm/FF) for portraiture. Get an 85mm prime or something sharp in that range and it'll work on your crop and if and when you step up to a full frame.

There are plenty of opportunities, I think the problem with younger people (well younger than me anyway) is that they don't actually want to work. Something my parents told me from a very young age was "No one likes working, but unfortunately it's something you're going to have to do. If you're working a job that you hate, you stick with it until you find something better ". I see the aforementioned problem a lot in my cousin who is a few weeks shy of 21. He has gone through more jobs in the past three years than most people have gone through in their entire life. This kid doesn't know a good thing when he has it. At 18 he was working a job where he was making $17/hr and they fired him because he "just didn't feel like going to work".
Before this job was offered to me I was considering starting my own business doing photo restoration (hence the one photo in that album). I was planning on getting my feet wet with it this holiday season, but the hours they have me working are so insane, I just don't have time.
Failing in what way? I find working retail makes me depressed.

What gets me is the most americans seem to forget that during the election debates Bush said that he was going to send us to war. I remember sitting in my living room working on some photos on my computer, and I had CSPAN or CNN or something like that on in the background, and as soon as he said it I turned to my roommates and said "I'm sorry, did he?....Did he just say he's going to send us to war if he gets elected?" I believe that's part of the reason 9/11 happened. I could be wrong, I just think it's a little too convenient. (although given the fact that no one seems to have brought it up since it happened makes me wonder if I dreamt the whole thing)
I remember the days when the people that drove you to the airport could go through security and sit at the gate with you until your plane arrived, and now we're getting freedom fondled. Would you consider moving to a different country (like canada, england, or france)? Do you think it would be more of the same if you did? Or would you rather wait it out to see if things get better? Being from a different country do you have trouble at airports, do you feel like they check you more intimately than they do natural born citizens? I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, you don't have to answer them if you don't want to. :)

Thank you. :) No macro lens, just the standard zoom lens that comes with the camera. I really want this but I probably wont be able to afford it for another ten years, when it's down to $200 and they no longer make it or something.
You should go with the Canon. Granted I haven't shot with Nikon since the D100 and D1X, so my opinion is rather out of date, but I always found that Nikon had a bit more noise versus Canon. And I found the Canon easier to use. I'm a bit biased though. ;)

I think i meant greater than or equal to 85mm but:

Canon's 135 f/2 L and Nikon's 135 f/2 both don't have IS

Nikon's, Canon's, and Sigma's fast 85mm lenses also don't have IS

Right now IS is pretty much only found in Zoom lenses.

Going to LA Convention Center for an anime convention. Will be taking solo and group pictures inside. Here are pictures 1 2 3 from previous years using the 550D/t2i without flash. Flash was making the background too dark and the subject light up too much. I'll be replacing the kit lens with the Canon EF 85mm f1.2 USM ii lens.

I was looking at the [Neewer NW-561](https://www.amazon.com/NEEWER%C2%AE-Dimmable-Digital-Camcorder-Panasonic/dp/B004TJ6JH6/r NW-561 speedlite flash. Someone recommended to get one with TTL, they recommended the Yongnuo YN-568EX II. The Neewer NW670 / VK750II E-TTL is cheaper and also has TTL. Which one should I get? Do I get a diffuser or softbox? Which way should I face the flash (walls and ceiling too far/high)?

I went a little crazy and used all my lens since my room is small, I also took some other pictures that weren't in this album.
