I work at sea level and checked the altimeter everyday on my way to work at the same spot. It would swing ~200ft depending on the barometric pressure. After calibrating it at sea level I took it up into the mountains at ~2200 feet and it was spot on. It was also correct when I hit my 2800 foot mark.
I've had it in the water and it still works. The weather "prediction" basically just tracks if barometric pressure is going up or down. Higher the better lower the worse.
For the thermometer you are supposed to wait 30 seconds after taking it off but it takes more like 5 minutes to get an accurate reading depending on the temperature difference from your body heat to the open air.
If you want any watch with both a compass and temperature readings, it sounds like you'd be better off with a Casio Pro-Trek. They have more sensors than G-shocks, and are normally cheaper.
Here's one that costs only 50$ and has a compass, altimeter, thermometer, and barometer. That being said, it's not solar powered, and it has a negative display, which some people dislike (negative displays are slightly harder to read than positive ones).
If you want to go cheaper or really want a positive display, here's a 40$ one, but it does not have a compass or tough solar.
If you have your heart set on a g-shock. The only one with a compass and thermometer is this one, which, at 180$, does break the bank.
If you don't really care about a compass or thermometer that much and really want a g-shock, I can personally vouch for this at 40$, it's a steal. Other commonly recommended G-shocks are this one because it's less bulky and this one because not only is it less bulky, but it's one of the cheapest G-shocks with multiband-6 (for automatically syncing itself to the correct time) and tough solar.
My overall recommendation to you would be the 50$ Pro-Trek, as I think it fits your needs the best for cheap. However if you are against negative displays, it might not be for you.
Edit: Also the watch you chose is pretty cool. I just saw it was only 62$ on Amazon, that's a great option as well.
Here is a great Casio twin sensor, it has a barometer, altimeter and temperature sensor, very useful for camping/hiking, its rugged and only $45, you can get a variant with a metal/plastic strap.

I have been using the Casio SGW300HB-3AVCF for the past few months. Comfortable, waterproof, and has alarm, temperature, altimeter, and barometer easily accessible with 1 button. On sale at amazon right now for $40. Heres the link
The thermometer is pretty accurate in my experience, but you need to take it off your wrist for a few minutes to get a good read. The altimeter is also pretty accurate, but fluctuates up to a few hundred feet depending on air pressure. For a cheap hardy watch I feel it is an amazing value.
OP wants bang for buck. Most of the watches listed so far are north of $100.

Sadly no compass... but come on. you could get a clip on compass that weighs like 4 grams. And at $42 dollars, unless it's total crap (we'll see when I test it out in 2 weeks), it's an unmatched deal.
Sadly, MINE sits in a mail box that I cannot access at work. I had to contact USPS to open that box up and move it to MY box 1 slot down. I wish I had it so I could give some first hand feedback.

I bought it and compared it against it far more expensive early 1990s brother. Both work very well. A few online technical comparisons/review websites found the same.
Battery powered... lasts many many months (depending on how often you summon a ABC reading). If my son also didn’t wear the same, I’d pack a spare battery & micro screwdriver.
Definitely sensitive but like all altimeters, it’s best for relative air pressure change ... not absolute altitude. (So few folks in today’s GPS world get that.)
