There are cheaper versions out there, but it's only a couple hundos in parts and will save you the $2k a replacement costs.

CatClamp Standard Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HPZTCMA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LvaSCbSKY56NG there’s a beefier version for twice the price. I didn’t opt for that since i felt it was unnecessary. Just make it as tight as possible because there was a rattle after I first installed it and after tightening it it was significantly less audible.
Some people shrouded the cable that wraps around the car in hose to remove the rattle but I didn’t want to bother with it.
OP, are you in Albany Park/Andersonville/Ravenswood/Lincoln Square are? This shit is happening a lot up here. I would seriously consider getting a CatClamp after the you get it replaced and have some extra scratch. It won't stop them or anyone who's very determined, but it's enough for them to simply move to a different car after one look at it. If you park in the same area, these guys might come back, spot your car, and do it again. It happens.
I was thinkng about picking up this to keep my cats on my truck. ashame we have to do stuff like this but this is the world we live in.

There are Catalytic converter clamps but they're pretty expensive. Best course of action is probably to complain to WETA that they need CCTV cameras there.
