>Do either of these chest straps work for the calculations or does it have to be the HRM run/tri.

They will all work just fine for lactate threshold. I have the Red HRM-Run, and this guy (which used to be $20 a year ago, but I think Garmin isn't making it anymore) and both have worked just fine to calculate lactate threshold.

In fact nearly all ANT+ chest straps will have the ability to provide data necessary for lactate threshold. For Firstbeat's Lactate Threshold measurements you need heart rate variability data and that's available from nearly all ANT+ heart straps (even non-Garmin ones). I bet this one will even work.

The red strap provides Running Dynamics data like:

  • Ground Contact Time
  • Vertical Oscillation
  • Cadence

These are cool, but obviously not the same as lactate threshold.

I bought this one back in July. Currently $30, As long as I remember to wet the part of the strap the monitor connects to it seems to work fine. No idea if you need to wet the Wahoo monitor.

I just bought this one off Amazon. It'll arrive tomorrow and I'm going to try it out on Monday. The reviews seem decent and the price (for me) is right.

Thanks for the response. I just found this one on Amazon for 20 bucks. I just read another post and they said it worked with DDP Yoga. I figured for 20 bucks it's worth to try.

I used a 30% off code for my scosche - there’s probably one floating around for Mother’s Day.

And I must have remembered which one the cheap one was incorrectly - let me scroll through amazon to see if I can find it.

Edit- searched hr monitors in this community and this coospo one has been mentioned in the group multiple times. Also if you have an Orangetheory hr monitor, it will work. Basically anything that connects via ant+ if you’re wanting to shop around.
