Cosair makes some nice Surround sound PC gaming headsets. Very comfortable.

What ever you go with, I'd recommend a USB headset. That way, if you want, you can have the game audio come through your PC speakers and the voice chat come through the headset. That's my personal preference, anyways.

It sounds amazing, but needs drivers for 7.1 so you can only get the 7.1 sound on the PC for now. Though during the dev talk here:

The guy said that the 3D audio "Works on everything" I'm not sure if he meant on every game or on every headset since you can't really hear the question.

I've already had a Corsair Vengeance gaming headset for about two years now on my PC and they sound incredible, and they're sturdy and they do a really good job of isolating sound, plus the wired ones can usually be found around $70 on one sale or another.

If anyone is interested in getting this one but they aren't sure if it'll work with the VR, just reply to me after PSVR launches so that I can get reminded and I'll reply with how it works for me, since I'm going to pre-order the PSVR.

my friends have been using headphones from corsair and one of them specifically this one it's within your budget and i heard that the mic is p good too!

I want to say something here that I probably should have mentioned in the OP - I'm moving up to these cans straight from a set of Corsair H1500 gaming headphones. Those things, had a lot of bass. And a serious lack of mids and highs. Everything that I listen to now is almost painfully high because of this... and I know that it's simply because I'm not used to hearing defined highs. It's going to take a bit of time for me to get used to it :P I actually am currently settling down on a more neutral EQ now after reading some other comments elsewhere. It's a lot more crisp.

Corsair H1500 sounds like what you're looking for, as far as value to money scale goes.

There are better headsets for more money, and there are better headsets without mics for the same, but the all-around balance for something under $70 that will do the job is most likely this one.

If you want to spend a bit more, check out the Logitech G35 headset. Once again, same disclaimer as above, but this is the most common ~$100 headset that's worth the cash.

Corsair for headsets too. I got the first gen version of this for probably 50 or 60$, and 2-3 years later still look brand new. Only issue is the cable loves twisting on itself, but otherwise fantastic condition.

Doesn't hurt after long sessions, and the pleather cushion on top hasn't begun to peel. My old Plantronics set peeled away after a year or so.
