I would advise you to join a support group, a real one not an online thing. You need a break, you need empathy and you need to know what resources are available. Caregiving support groups are for friends and family.

Yes, I know all the reasons why you can't; I have heard them all before. Just know that if you don't, you are only going to become more resentful and are just postponing the inevitable.

As for every person wanting information about Dad, keep the updates to a minimum. This is tiresome. You need help not "thoughts and prayers". If they are unable to come over with a tuna casserole or take Dad to the doctor once in awhile, they aren't of any use to you. Sorry not sorry.

I also recommend reading: Cruising Through Caregiving. Its a bad title but a good book.
