You should try a real leg pillow. It's life changing

Find a good bolster for under your knees. Something like they'd use when you get a massage. I just use a yoga bolster since I had one already. I put links in for reference...non-affiliate.

Depending on the day, placement varies, sometimes I have to put it higher up (so it's almost under my hips) & some days it's just right under my knees themselves.

For side sleeping, something like this is supposed to help. I refuse to buy something so silly and have used very firm pillows with varying degrees of success. I used to be a 100% side sleeping but, I really just can't do it anymore.

FWIW, I have a jacked up left SI joint with pain that sounds very similar to yours. I just had a nerve ablation yesterday after a year+ of conservative treatment. I posted about it the night before last if you wanna read anything about it to verify.

I have a back brace as well. I lovingly refer to it as my turtle shell since it goes from literally under my boobs to just above my crotch and is hardshell. It's like a corset. People see it and think it's a medieval torture device but it's so helpful. I use it when the joint is so bothered and my back muscles are so exhausted that they start spasming. However, I couldn't imagine trying to sleep in the thing. The purpose of mine is to give support vertically to give my muscles a chance to chill the hell out. Using it for TOO long defeats the purpose of PT, which is building core strength, since it's letting the muscles be lazy. I usually only wear it if I'm having a really hard day or if I'm traveling.

TL;DR - yeah...sorry 'bout that. :)

You could try something like this for sleeping.

Strengthening your quads will also help but it's a slow process.
