Protip: buy a bobbin winder! I picked mine up for $2 at my local craft store when I started stitching, and it changed my floss organization game! It's so much easier and more fun to get all of those little skeins looking even and nice.

Also, don't go cheap and use cardboard bobbins. Once you start using plastic bobbins, you won't go back! I buy mine by the 100. If you get them on Ebay, and don't mind waiting for shipping from China (mine usually arrive within 2 weeks, not sure what the shipping time to the UK would look like in comparison), the last 100 pack I bought on eBay was $5.98, and quality and size between brands really doesn't change.
