Actually you just need a RFID writer, not very hard http://www.amazon.com/uFR-RFID-Reader-Writer-Programmer/dp/9896740054

I figured as much. I have no programming experience, although I would be super interested to learn using this as a vehicle. Do you have any resources to point me to in order to learn how to do this? There is just so much information, I have no idea where to begin.

For instance there is this product on Amazon that may be useful to me. But I am not sure. https://www.amazon.com/uFR-RFID-Reader-Writer-Programmer/dp/9896740054/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1504629753&sr=8-7&keywords=rfid+software

This just writes to the magnetic strip on the back. I don't believe this supports RFID.

EDIT: You can try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mifare-13-56-Proximity-Reader-Writer/dp/9896740054
