I had NEVER read any Deadpool before. Kinda funny I see this question now. I ordered Deadpool Volume 1 couple weeks ago. I am about half way through it and I am loving it.

Sweet! I think I found a collection with Secret Invasion, and I added Killustrated for after I read Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe (although I read you could probably read the former without having read with latter, despite the former being a "sequel").

Probably relevant to your interests as well: this collection is out now, but this collection comes out in a couple weeks and includes more for a smaller price tag. Vol. 2 in December.

Here is Volume 1 and here is vol. The difference is the bigger Volume 1 has both vol.1 (issues 1-5) and vol.2. It also has the Thunderbolts issues.

Honestly? You can start anywhere. But if you need a good defined start then start here. But you can honestly start anywhere as long as it's not in the middle of a big story arc. You may not get some jokes because they do with the marvel universe or whatever character he is with but overall it's really easy to get into.
