:( That does sound hectic. My registry is kinda all over the place because I've already bought a ton of stuff, but just some suggestions of some things (FTM so no idea really if these are good or not, some were recommendations from friends, some were recommendations from various online resources).

• car seat, extra base if you have more than one car, and stroller
  
• baby carrier - I got the ergobaby 360 with infant insert but the Lillebaby 360 is also super popular.
  
• swaddles - aden & anais seem to be hugely popular.
  
• bathing supplies - washcloths, bathtub

• feeding - bottles, sterilizer (some people told me I had to have it, some said it was totally unnecessary), bottle cleaner brush, drying rack (seems like everyone else loves the Boon grass, but I don't have the counter space!) You can get a pump through your insurance if you plan to breastfeed, I ordered mine through Aeroflow. I ultimately chose the Spectra S2 over the Medela PISA because it's a closed system, which apparently means less chances of bacteria getting into the system and thus easier cleaning.
  
• burp clothes - I was told to just get a ton of cloth diapers to use as burp clothes, and to have them everywhere.
  
• diaper pail - I have two friends who say this is good enough, so I went with it. They also said to use doggie poop bags to contain the smelly diapers.

• baby may need a more convenient place to be set down other than the crib, something you can have near you in the kitchen, shower, whatever. Popular options are the rock n play, Boppy lounger, or a pack 'n play. I plan on getting the Chicco FastAsleep pack 'n play because the crib/dresser/changing station is on our 2nd floor, so I figured this could double as a changing station/napper on the first floor.

We use the Dekor - Amazon link which works pretty well for my twins. They are in daycare though so I usually fill one bag during the week and then another on the weekends when they're around more.

I can't answer about bamboo inserts--haven't tried those yet. However, for diaper pails, I LOVE Dekor's diaper pail. You can purchase cloth pail liners to use with it (1 set of 2 pail liners should be sufficient as long as you plan on washing every 2-3 days). And for wetbags for travelling/being out of the house, I'd get about 2-3 depending on how busy your lifestyle is. If your baby's in cloth while in daycare every day, I'd buy about 5 wetbags so you have a fresh one every day without stressing over laundry. I love Thirsties wetbags--they're a great size and they keep the stink contained! :)

I use this one with a large (non zip) wet bag type liner inside. I have two bags to swap out. I just grab the bag of dirty diapers and throw everything in the wash. SO easy!

I got the dekor hands free diaper pail on amazon and the 2 pack of cloth diaper pail liners that fit it and it works great, no smells, similar to the diaper genie we used to use with our first born(we did disposables) but has waterproof (either TPU or PUL, i didn't pay attention)liner has a draw string to close up the bag in transport.

We are happy with it and 2 liners is necessary so you have one to use while the other is in the wash with the diapers so I'm glad it came in a 2pack

We got the 40$ Dekor bin on amazon, 100% worth it. Diapers are stinky man: whatever you can do to affordable contain it will spare your sanity. We wound up putting three double pail refills on our registry and they were all purchased for us and lasted the whole year.

OP. Invest in one of these and save yourself the argument. My husband thought it'd be absolutely necessary for our quality of life with baby to contain the smell of soiled diapers. I was skeptical, but I've definitely eaten my words now. This can be right by your changing station and smell doesn't permeate the room.

Best:

• Rock N Play - we have this on the main floor of our house and its where my son takes his naps during the day (when he's not sleeping on me)
  
  
• Pack N Play (with bassinet and changing table) - we have this Chicco Pack N Play set up in our master bedroom, where my son sleeps at night. The organizing caddies that attach to the side are super handy for storing diapers, swaddles, and a change of clothes for the middle of the night.
  
  
• Diaper Pail - We have two of the Diaper Dekor Classics, one upstairs and one downstairs. Our house is pretty small, so I love the small footprint of these bins.
  
  
• Boppy - Now that my son is a little over 3 weeks old and can quickly and easily latch in a number of different holds this is less important, but it was super helpful for the first few weeks.
  
  
• Burp cloths - we keep one in every room of the house! I love the Burt's Bees burp cloths. I'd recommend having at least 10-15.
  
  
• Muslin swaddle blankets - I'm obsessed with the Little Unicorn swaddles because they're big, breathable and have such cool designs (but also very expensive at $16/each). I'd recommend having at least 3-4 blankets.
  
  
• Hooded bath towels and small washcloths - Perfect for keeping baby warm and dry after a bath.

• Ergo Natural Curve Nursing Pillow - This pillow is way too stiff/hard. I hate it and never use it.
  
  
• Socks - My son has worn socks exactly 2 times in the last 3 weeks. Since he's almost always covered in a blanket, they're super unnecessary for newborns.
