You can get docks that will plug into pretty much anything, really. It's over budget, but I would go for this Dell XPS 15.

It's super lightweight at 4.4lbs, .7" thick, and has a powerful i5-4200H, and really good battery life.

The Dell XPS 15 would be a good choice for those needs. It comes with:

  • i5 4200H dual core processor
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 1920x1080 15.6" touchscreen
  • 500GB HDD 5400RPM + 32GB SSD
  • Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics
  • 6-8 hours of battery life / 4.43 pounds

    Most ultrabooks are 13.3" or 14" in size, so your 15.6" size requirement limits your options a good deal.

I was just suggested this laptop (or at least one very similar ).

I have a few questions that weren't readily answered on the Amazon description.

  1. Do you have a docking station? If so, what kind? I think this one might be a good choice.

  2. Have you ever hooked up more than one monitor to the laptop?

  3. I am looking to use this laptop for working on programming projects from work and school. How well do you think this laptop will run those computational tasks?

One last question! Do you know if you can install Windows 7 on the XPS 15?

I was thinking of getting this one from Amazon since it's significantly cheaper than other models. Do you know why?
