Dell monitors are great, their Ultrasharp IPS range is nice just avoid their new 4k ones as they're pretty bad.

There's this one which is slightly over at $615 but it has 2560 x 1440 resolution.

Or with a 1920 x 1080 resolution theres this one for half the price:

I would recommend IPS monitors since viewing angle will be better.

Dell 27" 1080p ($255 each)

(Not the thinnest bezel, but it is ok)

I have 3 Dell U2713HM (1440p) and love them. They are 2x as expensive, but much higher resolution.

> A 27 inch Dell IPS monitor costs $600

I just bought 2 27" Dell IPS monitors for $300 a piece with free shipping.

Edit: Scratch that I see you were talking about the 2560 x 1440 display, which makes sense.

Beautiful monitor and great price, I personally use this and I only one gripe with it no displayport. I bought mine factory refurbished for $180.

This is probably what you are looking for.

Although;
US price on Amazon: $255.99.
UK Price on Amazon: £357.21 ($583!!)

That's quite a price hike just for a trans-Atlantic purchase - more than double the price. I'd snap it up at the US price, but at the UK price....

Im in the same boat as you this is what I had in mind,

I was thinking About having a 1440p monitor in the middle and then two 1080p monitors on the side and then just switch the resolution of the 1440p monitor when I want to play at 5760x1080. I have been trying to find a setup of for this but I have had some difficulties. First, you want to keep bezels at a minimum 1440p monitors have large bezels. (The smallest I could find was a dell one)

The second problem is that in an ideal 5760x1080p setup you want all monitors to be similar when regarding screen size and the aesthetics of the monitor. This means your going to have 1080p panels at 27" and it also means that one is going to have to sit about 3 - 4ft away from the 1080 monitors (I got this figure through personal testing using a 32" 1080p monitor)

The last problem is that running a panel at its non native resolution will lower the image quality. I have yet to see any tests or pictures of 1440p panels running at 1080p.

Just my 2 Cents

On a side note,

What system do you plan on driving this with? I'm also trying to build a system from the ground up and I haven't been able find something that I deem good enough for my budget.

Edit
I forgot to add which 27" panels I would use, Dell S2740L

Dell S2740L. It is indeed a glass panel. It looks great with the windows closed and no minimal lighting, but any amount of sunlight will cause an obnoxious glare/reflection. The LED back lights help tremendously.

Here's the video it's from he mentions his 27 inch imac, so that's what the center monitor is. He also mentions the monitors either side are Dell 2740L monitors. Hope this helps.

It's this dell from Amazon. However I would wait before you buy it. It's quite expensive now compared to when I got it. It goes as low as 260 sometimes it just varies with their stock.

Thanks, what kind of stuff do you use it for? I like the look and adjustable stand, but would like to explore my 27" options first. Any thoughts on http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009H0XQPA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER? It's not much more and looks rad as well.

I personally use two of these so far http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009H0XQPA?cache=04a8eebf1f9f7f8cccf78056af7fde82&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1405923263&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

Quality is top notch. Beware it is a glass panel so there can be some reflection but I never am bothered by it. Dell monitors have never let me down. Had them for years for gaming.

If you're just looking for gaming...

I've got the 24" version, and I love it. I plan on expanding in the future with an additional 24", and one 27". The edge to edge glass is boner-inducing.

so it sounds to me like you'd appreciate an IPS monitor more than a TN monitor with a high refresh and low latency. IPS monitors are really worth it for the great color and picture quality, as well as viewing angles

so that leaves us with the variables size, resolution, and of course price, here are some options:

  • AOC 23" frameless IPS - ~155 @ Amazon, i love the lack of bezel on this monitor, it looks really sleek in person. however, it lacks a DVI connection so you're limited to HDMI. also lacks a VESA mount

  • ASUS 24" IPS - ~190 after rebate on newegg. ASUS monitors have outstanding build quality as well as pictures, and are generally a really go-to brand. again, no DVI port, but IS VESA mount compatible so would be great for a multi-monitor setup.

  • Dell 27" IPS - ~$230 on amazon. this monitor is pretty much the full package with an IPS display, VESA mount, and DVI connection as well as HDMI. this is honestly my pick of the 3, however some people complain about pixel density at 27" for 1080p, so it's not gonna look really crisp from 2 feet away

any of those are great picks, tell me if you want any more examples of monitors, ips or not
u/BonIverlyKnowYou · 1 pointr/buildapc

Ok, gotcha. It had a note regarding IPS on the Amazon page, but that must have been a more general note. Thanks for the heads up!

With regards to the second - would you choose that MX2 over the Acer H276HL and the Dell S2740L?
