Get a Bruxism mouthguard. Even if you don't grind your teeth, I couldn't tolerate the chinstrap, and having the mouthguard to bite on, keeps the tongue in/down and solved the same issue you're having. These are the one's I prefer.

I am a clencher, not so much a grinder, and have a pretty small mouth. I've tried a handful of the night mouth guards. I finally found this one at Walmart and really like it because it's a very slim profile and very comfortable rather than the huge bulky athletic style guards. It holds my molars apart, where I clench, but it also has little side walls that restrict side-to-side motion for grinders. I can talk with it in pretty well too, it's not very invasive.
I agree with most posters here that a nighttime mouth-guard cannot last the destruction that your teeth will do to it.
That being said I clench my teeth at night and wear these which I have found last about three weeks before I need to replace them. It is the best over the counter nighttime guard when you consider price/performance.

I have a small mouth and have used this one. Not currently due to sinus issues but the first timeci used it, it was life changing.

I haven't been diagnosed with TMJ or anything but I definitely grind my teeth at night, have awful headaches all the time, and often wake up with tightness in my jaw and neck. I've used mouthguards at night for years.
