Get her a preclinic survival guide. Here is what you need:

Lighter
Panty Hose (nylon, not fishnet)
Vaseline
Cheap cool safety glasses
Super glue
Pack of Rubber bands
Base formers
Sandpaper

If I think of other things to add, I will add them on. All of these are things I wish I had in preclinic and are cheap, but necessary. She'll also be surprised at how they all come in handy.

I usually only use a respirator for painting and fumes (charcoal filter). If I'm making a lot of dust I use dust masks.

These are my everyday safety glasses
I use these goggles for lots-o-dust (I have a DeWalt factory store near me).
These are the ear protection I use. The only thing I don't like about these is the radio doesn't have a display so it can be hard to find stations. I've always used over-ear protection, never liked sticking things in my ears.

I got some of these and like them. They fit on my huge head and I havent noticed a real fogging problem like other glasses.
