Short of a miracle, emulator is just about the only way you're going to play Dragon Warrior I-IV.
While there's a handheld remake for IV(on DS) most of them haven't seen a remake/re-release.
I'll add Dragon Quest V(on DS) and Dragon Quest VI(on DS) as well.
I honestly prefer the fan translations on those two, though.
There was also an anime series done relating(roughly) to the story of Dragon Quest/Warrior III. It aired very briefly in Canada when I was little. Think I only caught the first ~4 episodes, if that.

I don't mind the graphics, but yeah they are basically NES graphics. Still, DQ5 is one of my favorite games across all platforms.
