Here's a little advice: I used to date an asshole like this. He blew everything out of proportion. Whenever I tried to discuss something, he thought I was picking a fight or guilt tripping him. He just didn't understand having talks about feelings. The way I dealt with it was to try talking to him about it. To try to make him see that when I want to discuss something that happened--an event, something that made me sad, a lack of communication, etc...--wasn't a ploy to guilt trip him or make him feel bad. It was just a way to communicate how I felt and encouraged him to do the same.
