With these cameras you can set up motion alerts, email or upload to FTP pictures of the motion on a schedule. You can also view multiple cameras from one web interface. It's the best camera I've found for the money.

I use an Easy N wifi camera. The coop is juuuust far enough away that wifi drops too much so I had to run an ethernet cable out. It has pan and tilt so I can move it around and see them in different areas in the coop. Also have a cam in the run too to see them during the daytime.

The part about 'not require any wires': I'm not sure that is possible. All cameras will need power whether that power is 120v AC or a 12v DC solar setup. As far as technology in general goes I think the least amount of wires you can get away with in a camera would be a Power Over Ethernet camera and it would just have 1 wire to the camera but that is going to be a few hundred bucks easy for the PoE injector plus it would all be AC powered. You may have to do something like a solar inverter in your coop but that is going to be a little spendy.

I faced these same challenges and decided it was worth a Saturday of work to trench out some AC to my coop/run instead.

I have two of these. One in the coop and one in the run. The reviews are mixed (mostly cuz the setup docs are terrible but easy to work through). They've worked great for almost 2 years so far. They are a little slow, have no built in record functionality but do have wifi and ethernet, PTZ with presets and also pretty good infrared night set up. I can easily see my full coop and run with the infrared but my setup isn't that big (built for up to 8 hens).
