I wouldn't use that type of scroll frame. I use one with knobs like this. I know you're not in the states, but maybe check the UK amazon for a multi pack like this.
Edit: there are some that use Velcro so you don't have to baste your fabric. I have them but haven't tried it yet.
Well if you don't want to have a stand laying around your place, obviously a stand won't work for you.
It's so easy to put stuff in and out of q-snaps, I'd be tempted to say just get a 18x11inch q-snap, put your fabric in so that you have all the width but only half the height framed and start on the top of your project and by the time you need to move it, see how you feel.
You can try a scroll frame (I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TZUTJ0/ ) - I still prefer q-snaps for projects that fit in them because I like a lot of tension, and with a scroll frame you only really get great top--to-bottom tension but not so much left-to-right) but for a project that won't all fit in a q-snap I think I prefer to use the scroll frame rather than have excess fabric lying about. You would still have to adjust the roll as you go along but that's no big deal and you can work as normally and flip to the back all you like

This is the one I got, has three widths and two lengths? Heights? So you can pick the ones that are useful for your project.
I just did some thinking and remembered my mom has a scroll frame from cross stitch work. Could I possibly use that like a frame loom but be able to roll up my warp to make a longer scarf?
