Here's an example of one I bought recently. Mind's a different model but these are cool. Dual alarm, goes by weekdays/weekends but the cool feature was the time projection. When it's dark in the room the time projects onto the ceiling. It's handier than it sounds. Can't say it ramps up in volume on its own though.
I bought an alarm clock at Target (made by Emerson Research) that the alarm starts very low and gradually gets louder over the course of a minute. Changed my life! It also dimly projects the time on the ceiling and sets itself. Put it on your Christmas list :)
