Hi there,

So last year I was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma and as a result I had to have surgery. I wound up with a very large scar that stretched from my shoulder, down to my collar bone and up to the base of my neck.

I have been putting Vitamin E oil on the spot every night before bed for the past 10 months and it has lessened significantly. Some areas the cut lines are so thin they are almost gone!

My boyfriend's sister has spina bifida which has required a lot of surgeries in her lifetime. She said she has had the most success with Emu oil.

Edit: Before (right) and After (left). Sorry I couldn't find a decent before photo. Before the scar was raised (keloid) and had dark pigmentation. From 10 months of vitamin E oil, the scaring in all areas (bar a small lump at the thickest part) is now level with surrounding skin, that colour pigmentation is significantly reduced and the thickness of the scarring has also significantly reduced.

It used to take my skin a solid week to recover from a bad pimple, but for the past year I've had a pretty good system in place that means I literally have not had a pulsating, visible, red spot on my face for more than 24 hours. For example, for the past two weeks there has been this thing under my cheek. Invisible to the eye, but when I touched the spot I could feel under the skin a horror growing (there was a hard lumpy thing and it hurt to press down). I applied tea tree oil at night. I used my salt bar religiously, once in the evening, once at night (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VQMU3S/). This salt bar was single handedly how I went from minocycline to no minocycline without my skin freaking. But I started using pocket derm and it made my skin a bit dry so I slathered on aquaphor two days ago...and the next day (yesterday) what had been an under-the-skin horror finally erupted to the surface. It was red. It was swollen. It was horrible. I don't know if it was pocketderm or aquaphor that finally brought it to head (at least 90% of these never even erupt with my tea tree oil + salt routine), but there it was.

I followed my general regime of salt and tea tree oil and must've reapplied this (http://www.burtsbees.com/Herbal-Blemish-Stick/88799-00,default,pd.html) 20 times throughout the day at work. By night it was slightly seeping pus. I took two q-tips and VERY gently popped it, making sure I was making zero indention or 'forcing' anything. I then did my salt and tea tree oil thing again and applied emu oil all over my face (http://www.amazon.com/Emu-Oil-Pure-Premium-Golden/dp/B001MWV40U).

For 24 hours a had a throbbing red horror on my face that both hurt and was very very visible (even my supportive boyfriend could not deny this pimple). And today I have a slight raise on my skin that is slightly darker than the surrounding skin and it doesn't hurt at all. I've also applied jojoba oil today.

Also before using salt or the tea tree oil I wash with either cetaphil gentle or cetaphil normal cleanser.

Anyway, that's my routine for handling pimples and beating them back quickly and it's worked great for me. Even my bf was surprised how quickly I was back to normal looking.

Hey dude I understand what you have been going through. I suffer from the same thing and after a very long time I finally figured out some really good ways to deal with it. First a crucial thing is to deal with stress as stress will make your symptoms worse. Try some form of exercise such as swimming/running and do it on a daily basis. Also look into Meditation, yoga, or Tai-Chi. Also, when you do find yourself starting to get stressed try this breathing exercise. Slowly take a deep breath through your nose (remembering to use your stomach rather than chest for the inhaling part) and then slowly exhale out through your mouth while keeping a relaxed and slightly open jaw.

Believe it or not moisturizing is actually very important and can be very helpful if done correctly. When you put on a moisturizer (I would personally recommend Aveeno's oatmeal lotion) remember to FIRST apply (cold) water on the spot you are moisturizing. Following that, immediately put the lotion on the dry skin and gently massage it in. This technique will help to better hydrate your skin. Do (not) take hot showers (even lukewarm can be detrimental sometimes). Your best bet is to attempt to do cold showers or just slightly warmer than cold showers. Try to use unscented shampoo and conditioner preferably with an avocado base. Remember to very gently lather it into your hair. As soon as you are finished showering (pat) rather than rub your body dry (including your face) and do the apply the moisturizer to help seal in the water from the shower.

Finally here are some links to amazing oils and creams that help to rejuvenate the skin and are high in omega 3's, antioxidants, and amino acids.

You may be able to get some from your local piercer, but it is likely easier to find online. Amazon link provided of what I use. Please note it is not the cheapest stuff ever.

This all natural creosote lotion from Siphon Draw Apothecary is cheap yet amazing. It heals skin issues faster than anything else I've ever tried, including skin picking trauma. I originally bought the $10 small 2 oz size for spot treatment, but I love it so much I've been using it all over, especially on triggering KP bumps on back of arms, (which are now smooth). I use as facial moisturizer, & it's helping my puny eyelashes get longer, stronger, & harder to pull out. Noticing same with brows. It has a rain scent that I don't mind, but my daughter thinks is weird.
However a little goes a long way, & I've barely put a dent in my bottle despite using it daily for the last month.

My other favorite lotion is Pure Emu Oil by Naturals New Zealand. I purchased my last bottle at xmas 2017 & only half way thru it, again a little goes a long way. I use for everything including scar healing, mosquito bites, scapes, cuts, bumps, & every other skin/hair issue I have. It's unscented, absorbs quickly, & non greasy. It's $25 for 4oz bottle & lasts forever. I'm on my 2nd bottle in a little over a year, (only because I gave my 1st bottle away to a friend whose daughter had a burn mark & needed something for the scarring). Helps with hair growth, originally bought for bald spot on scalp that was unnoticeable after only a few weeks of use.

Sorry for your setback, but keep your chin up. I hope this helps, hugs.
