This is my 3rd time around. I did my registry on Amazon this time. They have quick start links that take you through different categories to add stuff. Not saying you have to make one through Amazon but you can look through their catergories. I think most sites like babies r us have similar categories.

For cloth diapering: I've been cloth diapering for years and used disposables before that. I love cloth compared to disposables. I had a lot of pee and poop leaks with disposables, they're expensive. I started out using all kinds of cloth because I wanted to try brands, kinds, and to see what was out there. I ended up sticking with prefolds and covers. They're def the most cost effective and by far they've been the easiest and most absorbent. I use prefolds from green mountain diapers and flip brand covers which you can get at cotton babies (just google them). We use cloth at home, nighttime, and while out. We also use cloth wipes. I would go to r/clothdiaps for amounts because I know what I currently have in my stash is way more than anyone needs. I just have a ton extra but I also only do diaper laundry every 3 days or so. But I can help you out with any other questions you have

Bottles: I plan to use formula this time. I've tried breastfeeding both other times and failed. My milk never really came in and then dried up. I like bottles that are more simple. I've used the evenflo ones like these that are fairly inexpensive and I never had an issue with them. I've also used and liked tommee tippee and avent. I also used medela without issue but really only used them because I got them as a gift. They're very expensive and unless you plan on using them with their pump (they fit in) they're very overpriced. I didn't like the ones like dr browns with the added parts. I didn't feel like it did anything to prevent gas or reflux and they constantly leaked. The evenflo ones I linked are a very good price. They're not as "fancy" looking as others but they work the same. I've also seen avent on sale recently at places like target. They're more expensive but 3 for $13 wasn't a terrible price.

Registering: whether you're having a shower or not it's a good idea to have a registry. Lot do ofnpeople want to get something especially something they think a ftm will use. I def recommend registering for a place
People can go to because a lot of older people especially either don't want to order stuff online or they just want to walk around a store to see the stuff in person. But feel free to also register to a place like Amazon (great for cloth diapers). Babies r us tends to be really overpriced. I like Amazon and target a lot better for my own shopping but for the purposes of a shower Babies r us has a larger in store selection.


Some things you might want to think about registering for: you already have crib and mattress selected. You also might want mattress protectors (I'd say 2).


Sheets- I really happen to like koala baby from babies r us. They're around $10 a sheet. They got really well and don't shrink. I've also used burts bees that were great but way more expensive. I found them on clearance. I wouldn't recommend gerber. They shrink and are hard to get on. Also Aden and anais ripped in my washing machine. I'd register for 2. You'll want more down the line but more than likely your baby won't be sleeping in the crib that much at first.

Bassinet/co sleeper: register for either one of these if that's something you plan on doing. First time around we just had a crib which sucked because she didn't want to sleep in in. 2nd time bassinet but I didn't really like it. This time we're getting an arms reach co sleeper. I plan on using it as a bassinet instead of attached to the bed. But it's mesh on th sides so you can see in and the sides come down so you can easily reach in and adjust a pacifier


Pacifiers: if you plan to use them I'd register for a bunch. We've always used soothie ones and loved them

Swing/bouncer: we got a bouncer from a. Friend and never used it. My kids hated it but loved the swing. We're using the one we had last time around. It's a snuggabunny or something like that. We bought it from Amazon for around $150 but I think it's $110 now. You really don't need a swing and a bouncer. I find I got much longer use out of a swing and they grow out of bouncers very soon. We're also buying a rock n play this time around. It's small enough that it'll fit in our bedroom and also is easily to pack up and travel with.

Pack n play: some people use these instead of a bassinet but you'll need one with the bassinet top. If you're not planning on doing that you can always register for a simpler pack n play since you likely won't be using it until a little down the road. If you choose to get one I'd register for sheets for it as well

Swaddlers: we swaddle. We've always used swaddleme wraps and never had an issue with them. They're around $10 each but I've seen them cheaper. We're using halo ones this time. I've seen name brand swaddle wraps for very cheap at places like marshalls becusse they're "last seasons prints" or other stupid reasons. I got a could Aden and anais sleep blankets which i like for $7 and they're like $20 on Amazon. Whichever you choose I'd register for around 4+

Bibs: IIRC babies r us sells them in 8 or 10 packs for around $10. They're fine quality and you really don't need anything crazier. Maybe register for one or two of those packs if they still sell them

Burp cloths: we use flour sack towels which you can also use for cloth diapers I just personally don't find them absorbent enough. I got generic ones at target for around $7 for a 4 pack. We also used receiving blankets. People for some reason wanna get you a shit ton of them. Register for them if you want cause they make great burp cloths

Humidifier: we've never used one and never had an issue. You can get one but they're widely available for under $50 at most stores like target and Walmart

Car seat: this is up to you. We've always used an infant one and switched to a convertible one at 1. I like it best that way. Easy to take in and out of the car. You do not need two. With my first i got one as a shower gift and then a friend gave me hers. We literally never used the second one. With my 2nd we had one car seat and two bases. We never used the other base. We always just used my car as a family car and if my husband went out with the kids he took my car. I'd only recommend a second base if you'll be doing day care and one person will do drop off while another picks up. Other than that there's really no need

Travel systems: you'll most likely want a stroller and at least one capable of holding your car seat. You can save a lot of $ by getting a travel system.

Cloths: i really wouldn't register for clothes. They're difficult to find in store. People usually want to pick out their own outfit

Breastfeeding stuff: if you plan to breastfeed you might find it beneficial to register for things like a pump, shields, or a nursing pillow

Things you don't really need to register for: this is idr stuff you won't need right away. Feel free to register for them but like I said you won't need them right away. Walker, high chair, exersaucer, other toys, other feeding items

We went through the same thing. Our son was SUPER particular about the shape of the nipple and wouldn’t take anything that wasn’t very similar to the Doc Browns. We found that the Enfamil Disposable Nipples are similar to the Doctor Brown’s. They screw onto a standard sized bottle, and worked well with these Medela Bottles .

Eventually we got tired of buying the disposables and got these Evenflo Classic. Baby immediately took them and we’ve been using these for 3 months now. Super cheap and WAY easier to clean! Hope this helps!

yeah our little guy was late as well. We went in to be induced, stayed the night, and then the next morning shit got real fast and they had to do an emergency c-section. I was freaking out cause I wasn't sure what was going on and if my wife and/or unborn baby were going to be ok. On the plus side everything went fine and we didn't have to do any labor.

As others have said day 1 is awesome. The baby is super sleepy and you can just cuddle them. The following days are a bit crazy cause baby is hungry and mom's milk is still slowly coming in.

Also if y'all are breastfeeding, whenever you start introducing bottles avoid any of the ones that claim they are like a boob or good for breast feeding. The reason why is that they allow the baby to latch on like the breast(our lactation consultant informed us after we had already bought all those other bottles. Doh!) Also Gerber bottles and Dr. Brown bottles with the same nipples work as well, but Dr. Brown is rather expensive. Ok I'll shut up now. Good luck I hope all goes well! Keep me posted!
