In my original post here there were some obvious flaws in my set up. So i took your suggestions and made some adjustments.
first: i got a set of LED lights to backlight the desk (and you're right it does help with the contrast) but i can't get rid of my desk lamp i just love the light on the desk.
Also updated my old Logitech S120 speakers which were crammed into the corner because the cables were too short and hummed CONSTANTLY with a set of Logitech z333 speakers that actually fit!
Still need to work out whether i can get a new adapter for the right monitor so it can use the HDMI instead of VGA plugs, but baby steps :D

Keep in mind it's attached right across the middle behind the screen unlike some others which are attached around by the edges of the screen. It comes with a remote and plugs into a USB port behind the TV. For $10 bucks you can't go wrong . i bought two of these for $11 each, they tend to go on sale quite often. ($15 currently if you have prime). theyve been running well for the last month with no issues

This one from Amazon is ridiculously simple. It plugs into a USB port and then you just control it with a remote that comes with it. I believe they can be attached together as well but I haven't tried that.

You MIGHT need 2 strips or 1 fairly long one. I got a 16ft one for my bar and if you're are using a solid sized table you'll need around 18ft (6x3).
