> I’d also like to mention that sometimes I like to use the large iPad in portrait mode with the Canopy, and you have to be very careful when you do that. It invariably either causes the keyboard to break free of the grippers that hold it, or the buckle to snap free.

I like the quality of the Canopy but i went with Fintie’s solution instead even though i hate pleather, http://www.fintie.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Carrying-Apple-Keyboard-MLA22LL/dp/B01K780TN2

I use a 12.9” iPad Pro as well and the Fintie case holds the keyboard with a snap-in section rather than adhesive. The keyboard does not get dislodged by my iPad.

> The only other pain point worth mentioning is the awkward way Apple forces you to connect and disconnect the keyboard through Bluetooth.

Why don’t you just turn off the keyboard when traveling? It’ll reconnect instantly when you turn it on

Adding a keyboard folio for 12.9' will exceed the weight of macbookpro13. Therefore recommended to select Magic Keyboard + Fintie Carrying Case for 12.9 and Keyboard Folio for 11.

These are...fine. I've used a lot of them over the years with my Minis. But there's really no reason not to use the Apple Magic Keyboard 2 (easy to find for like $50 on eBay) plus a $15 case/stand combo like this one. A full keyboard is just so much nicer to type on (I got a lot of strain from too much typing on Mini-width keyboards), and Apple's is way sturdier than these Mini-specific outfits. The plastic case on these are also brittle and prone to cracking. I've tried Zagg and others, but once I tried the used Magic Keyboard+Finite case I never turned back. (I can also use it with any tablet or phone, or even my laptop--it's device-agnostic, unlike this thing.)

I picked up a refurbished Apple Magic keyboard and the Fintie case for it, which also acts as a stand for my 10.5 iPad Pro.

Couldn’t ask for a better set up. No problems with Bluetooth interference.

You aren’t likely to find a case that houses the ipad and a mechanical keyboard.

My solution has been to use the Apple Magic Keyboard (I know, I know, chiclet keys, but they work well) and a
case that doubles as a stand. .

I just carry the ipad in my messenger bag along with the encased keyboard. Unfold it and -bam- a mobile workstation. I’m typing on it now.

Is it a viscerally satisfying typing experience? No. But it’s good.

For the bluetooth mechanical, the best thing I could recommend would be a simple case stand for the ipad alone, then just carry the keyboard separately.
