I second repairing the screen it is trivially simple. Do you know if your digitizer broke, the screen, or both? If you're lucky, it's just the digitizer and you can reuse your existing screen. If not, you get to spend a little more and replace both.

In addition to the tri-wing screwdriver, which you ought to get with the screen or digitizer (though IMHO it's worth splurging a bit and getting a decent set of multiple small screwdrivers), you'll want to get a metal spudger, which will be helpful for getting the digitizer off the LCD screen (assuming it's just the digitizer that's broken) and getting the plastic trim off of the digitizer for reuse (be very careful here, as that's really easy to break. When I replaced my digitizer, I didn't even bother to use double-sided tape to stick things back down. The friction/compression fit was more than sufficient.

IMHO, the hardest part is getting a digitizer from Amazon without having it break in the mail. After buying two that broke in the mail, I ended up buying an LCD + Digitizer set because I figured the bigger package would be more likely to ship in a box (it wasn't) or at least would ship stacked together and be less likely to bend/break (which was in fact the case).

tl;dr: Replacing the digitizer and/or LCD on your gamepad is pretty trivial, and if you can undo screws and use a spudger safely you can save $80+ doing it yourself.

Nylon spudgers generally are single-use. I don't know why you'd need ten flexible metal spudgers, but $7 is about what I paid for one of these bad boys a while back.
