do you think if i put down the poker table padding and then the adhesive and velveteen on top it would all stay in place on the table if it's tightly staple gunned underneath the table?

i want to avoid putting adhesive down on the actual wodden top of the table

Now that the plastic tables are so common you don't see the wood ones as much, which makes sense since they're such a pain in the rear.

So, I know it's wayyyy below $1,000 but most of the actual board game tables are built to spec, which takes time. It's by no means fancy, but it works really well for board & card games. Plus it's sturdy enough to stay up. It you wanted to up what you spend, you could add some nice office chairs so it's comfy for long gaming sessions.
