> If you damage the pinch, you've done something wrong.

The way people do it is by jacking it up off the pinch weld, often as they are told to, which simply bends or crushes it. Shops and dealers do this all the time and ruin them. That vertical pinched area is not going to hold the weight of the car and isn't designed to. It just locates the widow makers u-shaped support, and the jack's small steel pad above that support, rests on the underbody of the car lifting it.

So you won't wreck the pinch weld with a widow maker because the pinch weld doesn't come in contact with anything. But if you use a jack or lift at these locations, you are lifting from the vertical pinch weld and risk bending them, then they rust, and start more problems.

If you are going to use the pinch welds, you have to make sure the pinch weld is not touching anything, only the underbody is, and that requires a special jack pad with a grooved slot that is deeper than the pinch weld, and a support area above it with the correct angle to contact the underbody, which most don't have and is a lot of bother anyway, since once you've jacked it up there, how do you get a jack stand there as well? So I suggest not using them at all, or using them just for jacking up using the pad adapters and use jack stands elsewhere.

These look ok, but haven't tried them myself, but it gives you an idea.

Actually, they do make adapters that will fit onto the pinch welds. I have a Corolla myself and I do all of my own work.

That said, I do have a jack (actually 3), jack stands, and wheel chocks (My car is a manual transmission). I will never work on a car with just the scissor jack.

Edit: One additional line.

A 25 degree slope is not safe place to jack up any vehicle. 5 degree, maybe with heavy chocks, solid jackstands, on concrete not asphalt or dirt.

What kind of jack you got? What kind of stands? Are you wanting to jack up all four corners, just one, or just rear?

Because the car has neither a center front or center rear jack point, at home you can't really put it on four jack stands.

For example for a 2015 the side pinch welds where you put the tire-changing jack is where you would lift the vehicle and put front jack stand at the reinforced spots indicated on page 342.
