Well, I couldn't find the pictures but IIRC, the mod I did consisted of:

  • Cutting out circular foamie sheets ported in the center; placed right behind the driver; as big as the driver
  • Cutting out circular some sort of wool; no ports; behind the foamie sheet; as big as the driver (I believe I used arctic wool, don't think it has to be arctic wool as long as it's not very thick). I think I used 2 or 3 layers of that.
  • Cotton sheets on the front of the driver, I think I used quite a bit of layers to tame the elevated treble response caused by the foamie sheet. You can pretty much use as much as needed.
  • Speaker cloth over the cotton sheet. I use blu-tack to hold sandwiched front damping in place. You can get cheap sample speaker cloth here. They send a whole bunch and it's essentially free + shippnig IIRC.
  • I used Yamaha YH-1 earpads since they seal well on my ears. I believe these earpads may work as well. Just gotta adhere them on with either glue or double-sided tape.
  • Of course as I mentioned above, cutting out the silver baffle so that the driver is exposed. This does allow the driver to fall through, so I would recommend cutting out some sort of acoustically transparent material to act like a net so that the drivers won't fall through.

If I decide to get another pair, I'll try to do a more comprehensive guide.
