It's like this - hotels are suffering in the recession so when you're making a booking just say "I'm deciding between this and a hotel that provides free wifi. I'll book now if you guarantee me you'll give me the wifi password for the duration of my stay". It's a fair trade, I do the same with breakfasts, they'll throw it in for free sometimes to get the booking made. I guess I'm being influenced somewhat by the very interesting book I'm reading at the moment on negotiation, especially where he talks about trading items of unequal value. Here's his book:
