Hello!! Not to encourage bad habits.....But you could also just eat very dark chocolate. Since I quit sugar I can eat 80-90% dark chocolate and am fine with it :) 5g of sugar won't kill ya! And honestly these are big chunks so I usually only eat two with a side of nuts (mixed or almonds) so 2.5g of sugar DEFINITELY won't kill you.

This one is my favourite: https://www.amazon.com/Ghirardelli-Chocolate-Intense-Midnight-3-17-Ounce/dp/B001G0MG2I

Edit to say: If you're swearing it off as in not indulging AT ALL -- Then nuts are a great go to! And oddly enough, broth satisfies my cravings sometimes.

it depends on each person individually. I ate quest bars my first time around on keto and they increased my carb cravings. I started eating one a day and soon I was eating two, and then three, daily. I plateaued while I was eating them, especially when eating two or more per day, and began to dropped weight quickly once I stopped eating them.

If you'e looking for something that is a "treat" on keto I would reccomend Ghirardelli 86% dark chocolate http://www.amazon.com/Ghirardelli-Chocolate-Intense-Midnight-3-17-Ounce/dp/B001G0MG2I/ref=pd_sim_gro_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=08BZNMR3TZBPFBSZ5P1W) or bulletproof coffee.

You'll want to putz around with the consistency (start with about a cup based on the above recipe and add from there, will probably be closer to 3c but I can't say for sure) but your favorite nut flour/meal ought to be a fine structural substitute for the powdered sugar - I'd suggest hazelnut or pecan ideally, but almond or walnut will work just fine as well - and just add in some artificial sweetener if it's not sweet enough for your taste.

As for the chocolate, you'll want to get the darkest you can, at least 70% but this would be my personal choice, and if you want more of that milk chocolate taste you can add a little sweetener and HWC when you melt it (not too much though, esp. of the latter).

Of course for the peanut butter you'll want to either make your own or get some with no sugar added.

Also don't really see what purpose the vegetable shortening serves that can't be taken care of with a little bit of butter instead, and that's going to be a much healthier fat than the shortening.

Doing that and following the recipe you linked, best guess you're looking at ~2-3g net carbs per piece.

Edit to add: Did a bit of Googling and found this. Seems like you're not the only one who's wanted these on keto, and seems like I'm definitely on the right track above.

Ok so here are some numbers and products:

Lindt Excellence 99% (99% Cacao) If you can find it, (and enjoy it) this is the best of the best (imho)

Net carbs for the entire 50 gram bar is 1g of carbs. Just keep in mind that this will be intensely chocolatey and not very sweet at all, you really need to enjoy that kind of bitter real chocolate taste in order for this to satisfy you. Lindt also has a few lower percentage chocolates:

90% Cacao - about 7g net carbs for the whole 100 gram bar. About 2g net for 1/4 of the bar

85% Cacao - about 13g net carbs for the whole 100 gram bar. About 4g net for 1/4 of the bar

Green & Black's Dark Chocolate (85% Cacao) This is what I have at my work desk right now.

(The german one I mentioned (Scharffen Berger 82% Cocoa) has the same net carbs as the G&B bar)

For 12 pieces (about half the bar) the net carbs are 11g. The pieces themselves are about the size of the last digit of your pinky finger, and I typically eat one row of 3 pieces at a time.

For 3 good sized blocks it is about 3g of carbs, and is very satisfying.

Ghirardelli Intense Dark Bar (86% Cacao) I list this one because you are very likely to find it in any grocery store.

For 1/2 of the bar, the net carbs are 11g. For 1/4 of the bar, 5.5g. This is pretty much the highest carb super dark bar I have come across, but it will do in a pinch.

Of course there is always 100% cocoa baking chocolate that is completely unsweetened, but I think the people who greatly enjoy this are few and far between, so anywhere from 85%-99% are good choices.

Nope. It's cacao. It's stil gross when it gets up to those numbers. You should still try it though, if you enjoy dark chocolate, this is good stuff.
