That was the first thing my mind went to as well! I was pissed when discovered that this was a thing about five months after my kid was born. It would have come in reeeeeeeeally handy during those last few months
I made the most amazing razor extender by duct taping a razor to a long wooden spoon - looked ridiculous, absolutely worked! I've used it three times now in the bath and shower and I honestly think I'll use it post-pregnancy too. You can also buy purposely made ones like this:

but honestly, the duct tape/wooden spoon thing was free and totally worked. I actually look forward to shaving right now, which I never thought I would at almost 41 weeks...

Not sure how well this would work on a face, but they make tons of razor extenders to aid women with shaving legs. This one I know is adjustable in length and angle, so I think it's probably one of the better options for shaving a face.
I know they have razor extensions, did anyone try one of those yet? Thinking I might as we move in to the summer. Something like this:
