The biggest downside I can see right now is that it does't have USB output (or any other digital out), that will allow use with an external DAC. A second point of complaint would be lack of scrobbling support for last.fm.
Apart from that, it is a really interesting alternative to Sonos. At 49USD, it is worth a try.
I think there's something like this that was on kick starter, called like gramophone or something...
