Guitar Repair, A Manual of Repair for Guitars and Fretted Instruments by Irving Sloane is a book that's been invaluable to me. You can pick one up cheap if you dig for an older paperback version. It's mostly for acoustic instruments, but it has great pictures, diagrams, and instructions for many things that would be applicable to building an electric: fretting, joints, releasing glue to fix screw ups, neck angle adjustment, etc.
