I got everything on Amazon:

They're still not cheap, but:

• If you're looking for a butterfly-style clasp, I bought this Hadley-Roma one from Amazon.
  
  
• For single-fold/sport clasps, look on panatime. However, note that bands need to be thin (2mm or less), and that you might have to adjust the band 1-3 holes larger to fit.
  
  Also, please realize that one end of the clasp is going to be where the buckle is, and will go up the strap with the loops (the strap with the buckle). This results in a very asymmetric look, and I have to actually reverse the strap to make everything comfortable. I might see if I can get a custom-sized band on etsy.
  

Since the removal has already been covered, I'm just going to answer your question on whether you can get a decent quality black strap with a budget of $30-$50.

The answer is yes! Hadley-Roma makes some pretty good stuff, for the price, and they have straps in a plethora of styles. If you go with this option, you can even afford to throw in a push-button clasp. Have fun personalizing your watch!

Looking for an aftermarket deployant clasp. I found this one but it is really uncomfortable and I'll have to return it.
