Are you sure she didn't mean Heinz Chili Sauce? That's much more likely for a little old lady. It's what a lot of people use to make cocktail sauce (for shrimp).

The people I spend New Years with always just do like several different crockpot dishes that are delicious but not so healthy, like those johnsonville "lil smokies" cocktail wieners cooked in barbecue sauce, meatballs, and then things like carrots, broccoli, and other snacks veggies. A personal favorite idea of mine is a meatball dish that is super simple.

Get a package if frozen meatballs, the kind that are ready to eat, a jar of (the original recipe calls for grape but you can substitute your own preference, I use cranberry) jelly, like for toast, I think Brits call it jam; and a jar/bottle of chili sauce.

Throw everything into a pot and heat until the meatballs are heated through, in a slow cooker it's usually about 2 hours on high, 4 hours on low, or you could do it on the stove even faster. Then just serve over something like egg noodles, or mashed potatoes.

MIX A JAR OF HUNT'S CHILI SAUCE WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF GRAPE JELLY AND COOK IT WITH A BUNCH OF LITTLE SMOKIE COCKTAIL SAUSAGES UNTIL EVERYTHING'S NICE AND HOT.

YOU'LL THANK ME LATER.
