Replacing the HID lights can be difficult, especially if you don't have tiny hands. There are many tutorials online, such as http://priusdiy.com/tutorials/lighting/headlightreplacement.html .
It could take you an hour or more to figure out how replace the bulbs the first time you try.

Someone made the very reasonable observation that you should take it as a wake up call and use the opportunity to get them fixed, and that sent you into a self-righteous temper tantrum.
