Anime blurays and DVDs are priced ridiculously high in Japan though. For example the Hyouka bluray box costs ￥30,369 on Amazon, which is around 250 USD (multiply by 8000 = 2 million USD). Buying the individual volumes as they came out would've probably been even more expensive.
