I tested my power bank today, it worked fine, I have this one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXCMGB8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it works well, I got it for other devices but it also works with the switch (and today I tested it on 5.0.0, and it worked fine) and at 30,000 mah that should be a nice amount of power for your bus trip. They do recommend you use a USB-C to UCB-C cable though.
Had an og vive, got a wireless adapter on amazon at release for 300. You can get them amazon warehouse, bought a used one there for my buddy thats been good as well.

Then I grabbed a vive pro complete set on amazon warehouse for 755 used. Some really light scratches in the outside plastic of the headband on the left side, so it was a really good deal. Right now it is higher, just depends on whats in stock.

Swapped the wireless over to that. It requires a free pci-express slot to run the wireless. Some people have said they need to swap their card down to slot 2 and put the wwireless in slot 1 but I havent experienced that on my older 5820k rig.

I'd say it really depends on how you want to carry/mount it. If you don't plan on HMD mounting it and you don't care about weight, I've seen batteries as big as 30,000 work. If you are planning on mounting it to the HMD I'd recommend sticking with something as close to the stock HTC battery as possible like this. Also, if you have access to a 3D printer this is also helpful.

I just ordered an iMuto portable charger and really like it. 30000 mAh, usb C, and other quick charge ports. They also have a smaller one that's labeled specifically for the switch, but it's the same USB-C charger.
not solar but i have one from the brand imuto. it charges my phone several times before i have to recharge. i forgot it was in the car for months and when i found it it still had 83% charge. it’s bulky but very reliable and i got it for $60
